A real disappointment
Even at first glance, I knew the materials of this bag weren't great, but I thought I would stick with it because the design was functional. But the first one I bought split open at a seam on the third trip I made with it. The company replaced it without charge, so I was pleased. Then the handle on the new one stopped working after the second or third trip with it. It pulls out only about halfway. I won't buy any more luggage via Rick Steves.

Very Poor Quality
I purchased several Rick Steves luggage items from Amazon for a European trip several years ago. The luggage was used extensively on that trip and also many subsequent trips without any problems. With that experience in mind I ordered this carry on bag for a recent trip to Florida. On the very first use of the bag the handle broke when extended. I had to carry the bag through security to our gate. Once at our destination I was able to duct tape the handle together but when traveling home it broke again and had to be carried. This WILL be the LAST Rick Steves luggage item that I will ever buy.
Great rolling carry-on with expansion, too.
Like the other Rick Steves roll-aboards we've bought, this is a great little suitcase. We definitely made use of the expansion feature for our souvenirs (of course, then we had to check it on the way home). Hopefully, it will hold up a well as the others now that it is made with recycled fiber.
