Eagle Creek has made a knock off of their own bag.
Back in April 2009 I bought 2 of the "Eagle Creek Hovercraft 22" Carry On" suitcases on Amazon, based on a friend's recommendation. At $169 the price was pretty good. Fantastic suitcase. Really well made, strong materials, just a great product all around. 5 stars. So when I needed another suitcase I knew what I wanted. I searched Amazon for "Eagle Creek Hovercraft 22" Carry On" and the only bag that came up was this bag. Looking at the photos and specs, it seemed like it was the same suitcase, albeit for $80 more. Maybe a tiny change to the exterior color, but other than that, the same. Worst case, I get a great suitcase that costs $80 more than it did 22 months ago. So I ordered one and it just arrived.
WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK. The quality went from 5 stars to 1. The zippers are cheap, the fabric cheap, the wheels cheap (gone are the solid roller blade type of wheels and in their place are larger plastic like wheels). Inside what used to be high quality mesh...

Nice bag but not really carry-on size
I've flown with this bag about 7 times and have been forced to check it as too large for carry-on 3 times - and these were not tiny regional turbo props, either (most recent plane was an Airbus 330), nor was the bag overstuffed. Disappointing, as I bought it so that I would not have to check it, and I accepted the relatively high price of the bag as what I had to pay to get a quality bag that met my needs. I should have paid a bit more attention to the weasel words "Sized to meet most carry-on requirements" in the text.
Otherwise it is a nice bag, well built and rolls nicely.
Edit to add: this last time, when I got home I emptied it and measured it: in the product description it says "9.5 x 22 x 14 inches" - but I believe those are the inside dimensions of the case, as the exterior, when completely empty and zipped closed, is 10 x 23.5 x 14.25". This may be a game ALL luggage manufacturers play with the airlines, but the airlines are getting increasingly picky,...
Lightweight carry-on with design limitations
This is a decent case for the price, though it's not ideal for a frequent business traveler.
PROS: It's light. The design and construction of the wheels and handles are solid and it rolls easily. The outside pouches are well designed for each access, which you need in navigating the airports. It fits perfectly in overhead bins, with the wheels out, as the flight attendants insist. The tapered top makes it work really well for carry-on.
CONS: When positioned on its back and the main top flap is unzippered and opened, it tends to sag into the case. In addition, the zippered pouch on the inside of the main flap has disappointingly small access to the storage space. This is the major design flaw in this luggage. When you're in a hotel room, you typically arrange your suitcase on one of those luggage stands, open the main top flap and lean the flap vertically against the wall. Rarely do you get the luxury of having the top flap laid all the way out flat unless you put...
